ReplyDeleteYour SPR is 1.5. If villain has flopped a better hand than you, he has already made a mistake preflop, and you have already made (theoretical) money.
Now please tell that to the donkeys who keep calling my pot-committing 3 bets with medium pocket and connectors.
Wonder how UTG+2 shows up with A2o here. Tilt? Or must have put you on a pure squeeze.
@Gold - What is betting the flop going to accomplish here? There are only 4 hands that will be calling the flop in this situation: set of dueces, set of 8's, set of Queens and KK. I check the flop so that AK can catch up, or AQ will have possibly hit and go for a cbet.
ReplyDeleteThe fact is that there aren't a heck of a lot of hands that hit this flop. Additionally, how much do I donk bet on this flop? I have $85 behind in a $50 pot; am I leading for $25 & shoving all turns? I certainly plan that move on the turn, but there aren't any reasonable draws out there so I doubt I'll get called.
I agree you should check this, because there just isn't much that hit this flop so you want to induce a bet.
ReplyDeleteHowever, you could always go for the really weak looking underbet, like $14 hoping someone will shove, and also allowing you to shove for less than pot on the turn or river. I know you don't care that much about balance at these stakes (which is fine), but at higher stakes where you need to balance, it will allow you to c-bet whiffs much smaller too.
You're expected to bet the flop, so anyone who 'catches up' but doesn't beat you may not stack if you check it anyway, as the check seems really cagey on this flop.
ReplyDeleteI'd prefer to take down this sizeable pot at low risk now than have Th, Kd, Q, J, 9s.. basically anything that can make a set and/or make a flush draw possible - now if they get funky ans shove you're not sure you're behind a set and/or possibly against a GS straight draw/FDraw combo with decent odds who's calling your turn with good odds.
I'd keep it simple and bet the flop.
Otherwise as played - snap call with a sigh if QQ shows up.
