Nothing interesting. I get a decent payday... nothing great, but still...

Nice hand. I don't think the bet sizing matters - he's not calling anything without the Ah or Kh.
ReplyDeleteWhat's your standard raising range for UTG+2? QTs is a bit lighter than I would go, but I'm still fine tuning my early position ranges...
He was totally empty on the river and you're not getting another nickel out of him. Good shove IMO because he is supposed to have Ah or Kh there like every time.
ReplyDeleteI figured there's not much difference between $42 & $59, so shove & make it easy...
ReplyDeleteI live the shove. $42 looks more like a value bet.
@Matt - This was a pre-SplitSuit / Mpethy coaching session. One of these days, I'm going to put a post together about what I learned. One of the takeaways, though, is range balancing - and how I don't really need to worry about that at 50nl. I sometimes used to raise "junkier" hands to balance out my EP raises when I do hold premiums. What SS said was that the players are not looking at positional raises by-and-large... and even if they did, they don't generally understand what they're looking at anyway.
ReplyDeleteI would agree wrt to the range balancing at those levels not being necessary. However, I think QTs is fine to raise from any position if you don't get married to one pair type hands. in other words, it is pretty easy to play post flop and can win big pots. But certainly SS/Mpethy have more clout than I do. Also I play mostly 6M as opposed to FR.
