I am still befuddled that my Kings never hold up. Over the past 8-10 months, it seems as though every time I am dealt KK, I have no problem getting my money in WAY good, only to have my opponent win the pot once all cards are dealt. I don't get it; whether I'm a 90% favorite or "as little" as a 75% favorite, my Kings simply do not hold'em. During my most recent session, instead of getting all in only to be sucked out on, I paid off -- and paid off size-ably.
Some background, first. I got in a rare Friday night session. I've been vacationing recently, 2 and a half weeks in Israel with my wife's extended family (15 of us in total) traveling throughout the countryside. Then, we had a week of work before last week journeying off to Playa del Carmen along the Mayan Riviera off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Although there have been some problems with a few resorts using spiked alcohol, the resort we stayed in only offers top shelf alcohol and very high end food. If any of my readers are interested in a 5 star vacation, I highly recommend El Dorado Royale, where we stayed (it was our 3rd or 4th time staying at the series of properties). I digress; we got back late Thursday night and I was set for a Friday session.
I was seated fairly quickly; there was a "long-ish" waitlist for both the 1/3 and 2/5 games, but I saw a few empty spots sprinkled throughout the room on the 1/3 tables. The floor was being fairly inefficient in announcing the open seating, so I asked for permission to find a seat and sit down. The floor granted me the privilege and I found a decent looking 1/3 table, letting them know to take me off the list. At my table were a list of characters: a 60 -ish gentleman who I nicknamed "nuts," because he was only showing down the nuts and only raising PF with the nuts. His bet sizing was terrible, so I felt it was only a matter of time before his AA or KK gets cracked by draws or otherwise. There was another competent player, who I'll nickname "angle" for reasons evident later in this post. Another player, "red" was a red-headed guy who was fairly competent, and then there was a pretender who thought he was a pro but I thought was suspect because I caught him numerous times limping where he should have thrown in a standard raise, and played far too timidly to appear to turn a regular profit.
I quickly opened my range, realizing that the table was on the tight side; they were mostly the type who would limp in and try to see flops for cheap. If I raised (my standard raise is typically $15 + ~$3 per limper), the players would fold and I'd see and instant profit for no sweat. In a more rare case where someone was emboldened to call, I'd simply cbet a K high flop with my missed AQ, or cbet a 2 8 6 board with my pocket 5's to take down a decent pot. These players started the night playing tight.
Red started establishing himself as a bit of a station; he seemed to commit that if he limped, he was calling a reasonable raise to see a flop. That reasonable raise consisted of some logical amount between $15 and $25. At the time of this hand, I'm sitting on around $500 and he has me covered. I look down at KK and after one limper, I raise to $17. It folds around to Red who calls, and everyone else folds. Heads up, we see a 2 9 Qhhh flop. I do not hold the Kh. Out of position, I cbet $35 which he flats. The turn is an offsuit 5 or something, and I lead for $75. He flats once again. The river is an offsuit Ace, which I'm very unhappy about. I check to him, and he thinks for a bit before betting $100. Given the odds I'm getting here, $100 into a $220+ pot, I begrudgingly call... especially when he seemed to size up and think about why I would check an Ace river before deciding to bet and potentially represent an Ah flush draw. I think I gave away my hand on the river by not making a blocking bet, but I think my blocking bet is going to be around $75-100, the same it costs to call his bet. Anyway, I call and am shown T2hh for a flopped ten high flush. Good game for a first in call of $17.
I reload $100 and wait. I'm playing from behind most of the rest of the night when I limp my Q9 in late position after a host of limpers. The flop comes 7 8 T, rainbow. Decent flop, with a draw and redraw to the nuttiest of nuts. Angle is out of position to me and bets $15 -- I'm one of 2-3 callers for my open ender. Turn fills me in with a 6 and he bets large this time: $65 or so. A heart draw is also put out there as the 6 and 8(?) are now hearts). I'm left as the only caller. I consider a raise, but figure it's very obvious with the 4 straight. The river is a 2 (can't remember whether it was a heart) and he stacks chips ($105 to be exact) in his hand and starts to move them forward and over the line. He holds them there for a second without releasing and I toss in a chip for the call after believing he has bet (forward motion and over the line). He sees my somewhat snap call and then starts claiming he did not bet. The dealer, who is a competent dealer, tells me the rule at MGM: forward motion with a carve out is considered a bet. He did not release, therefore it is not a bet. I did not get all upset, did not throw my drink, did not start yelling or causing a ruckus. I was visibly unhappy, and definitely had a few unpleasant words to the tune of, "whatever, you have to look at yourself in the mirror every day. If you're comfortable, good for you." That was the end of it; he had an obnoxious comment back, but a few hands later racked up and left. Ho hum; lesson learned. I'm going to have to be more obnoxious in the future when calling with the 2nd nuts and truly wait patiently, and ask "is that a bet?" before making a call. Again, lesson learned.
The final hand of the night involves Red. He's got rolled up Aces. He raises to $10. Mid position re-re-raises to $25, reopening the betting. Player to my right calls, I call with 88, player to my left calls. Back to Red. I 4bets to $135. I have $500 effective. Original 3bettor ships for $129. Player to my right calls. I think for a bit, but I believe this to be an unprofitable call, as I'm folding all non-8 boards. Player to my left thinks for a long time before calling. Flop comes 8 6 2hh and I'm not too happy. Red bets $125 and gets 1 caller. He checks the non heart turn and bets $125 on the river to get a fold. He shows (obviously, given the action) AA and scoops a nice pot. It shoulda been me... I should have gotten revenge for his earlier T2hh bullshit.
Despite the crap above, I turn a decent profit. It should have been a bigger night, but I'll take what I got.

Surprise! Pocket Kings fails again!
It's funny how one hand - albeit a hand with worse equity when the money goes in - holds up, but a dominating hand when the money goes in never seems to hold'em. I feel like I'm becoming a bit of a broken record (perhaps even sounding like fellow blogger Rob and the dreaded pocket Kings) posting about crappy beats with KK but it's my blog and I can do what I want, right?
So I'm riding along nicely - a few hours into my session when the table breaks as it reaches 4 people. I get switched over to the table I'd been eyeing all night - a table of non-regs. I haven't been following the table closely as it's across the room, but I'm playing in Baltimore, don't recognize the players, and figure it's a tourist table. I was correct in my assumptions.
I sit down and watch an immediate all-in and call with weakish holdings, a 3bet with KJs (noted) and a short stack shove repeatedly. Oh yeah, straddles galore - $6, $10, $15 - all by various players. Hmmmm... I'm probably going to like this table...
Meanwhile, my stack gets dribbled down to roughly a starting stack, as I can't hit a hand. I'm covering the involved parties when the following happens:
There's a $10 straddle on when UTG open ships $86 all in. A guy in MP re-ships for $97. I look down at KK and debate. I know I'm facing two short stacks, so do I want to close the pot out by re-shipping the $300? I decide on pushing rather than flatting and praying that someone else deeper just calls too. Turns out we're 3 way and action is closed. Flop is a glorious K 8 J. Turn is a 3 putting a two flush and the river is a rainbow T. I proudly flip my top set and wait until I get semi slow rollled by AQ. GG sir. Puke in the mouth. Why the hell wont my Kings hold up anymore?!?!?!
Anyway, I get retribution a few hands later from the MP above. For some reason, I don't rebuy which definitely is a factor in the hand. I'm sitting on $215 and look down at JJ from late position -- probably hijack - after 3 limps. I [only] get called in 5 spots and we see a flop of 5 8 T -- two clubs. A very loose short stack open ships $125, the MP above re-pushed $300+ (which covers me) and the action is on me. Is this go time or am I crushed? I feel like I'm the hour or so I've been playing, the short stacker can push with any equity, but the MP would just call with a draw. So is he closing out action against other draws? Or does he have a set / two pair? I eventually come to the conclusion that I'm getting too good of a price to fold and call for my remaining stack. It folds around and I'm once again 3 way to see a turn/ river.
Well the foreshadowing above should already have indicated to you that I held; turns out I'm up against Q8hh and K4cc. I wind up fading the K,Q,8 and clubs FTW. A far worse equity hand for a far bigger pot.
Poker is such a strange beast...

Just a simple complaint about overpairs...
If you don't like complaining / bad beat stories, move along. This post is a gripe post about the umpteen times I've had a solid winner (i.e. KK, AA, QQ, JJ), gotten it all in WAY good, only to be on the losing end by the showdown.
Most recent in my memory banks:
Last week, I 3bet JJ to $45 and got no less than 3 callers. The game was wild. I get it. Flop comes 9 4 2 two spades and I cbet $120. Everyone folds except the luckbox to my right. We have $175 effective and I auto ship the turn 8. He snaps me off with 82o FTW. LOL WUT?
This week, I open $25 from the SB with KK after a host of limpers. I get a very loose call out of mid position. Flop comes J T 2. I cbet $65 and he jams for $150. I snap it off and am shown QTcc for second pair, no redraw. Turn? Ten of course.
It seems that ever since the beginning of the year, this kind of pattern has been happening. Get it in good -- real good -- and get sucked out on. Rinse. Repeat. In the past few months, it's probably happened once every other session, which leads to a significant loss of EV.
The results finally affected my play last night. Fortunately, I recognized the bad play, and will work to make adjustments and get value rather than shutting out value to take down the pot:
I raised to $25 with JJ in the BB and the same guy from above with the QT vs. my KK calls. Flop comes 2 2 2. I cbet $45 and he snap folds. Bad cbet. I need to size my bet more like $30-35 to get him thinking about my cbet rather than snap folding. I maybe need to consider checking but I want to charge for an overcard. Small mistakes cost money, and the above potentially cost me since it's against a guy who does not fold a pair.
Mental note: don't let results get in the way of maximizing value.

Beware the Ides of March... into April?
Needless to say, I played last night and felt like April had become more of the same that I've come to expect from my sessions lately. The night started off well enough; I spiked an open-ender with the "Grump" - 2 4ss (his favorite hand). Mind you, I've never won with that hand - but I called a SB $15 raise while in position with 5 other callers to see a flop of 3 5 T (one spade, rainbow). The original raiser had $50-60 left and open shoved the flop. I was the only caller and saw a spade on the turn and a 6 on the river for the nice, early $160 winner. I chipped up little by little on my way to +$300 before the doomswitch got turned on.

I went on to flop a set of Aces on an all hearts board only to be shown a JT flush by the river (-$300). I 3bet to $55 with JJ and flopped mid set only to be shown a 46hh flush on the river (he had $~200 to start the hand, called one bet and then called the 3bet LOL... -$200). I flopped a 53 flush only to be shown a 95 flopped flush (-$100). I flopped top 2 pair (T8) only to be 4 straighted on the river (-$65). I flopped top 2 pair (QT) again only to be flushed on the river (-$65).

Despite my string of nauseously poor luck, I found myself out no more than $200 on the night and continually working my way back into the game. As you can probably gather above, the table was juicy and primed for the pumping if only I could get my hands to hold up. There were a few guys on total tilt, with the key player sitting on a peak of around $1700. I could only watch it dwindle away drip drip drip when I finally caught a hand at around 2:30AM:
As I said, I'm no more than in for $200, so in this hand, I'm sitting on approx. $400. Facing a mid position raise to $15, I look down at 55 on the BTN and opt to just call. I actually consider 3betting here, but figure with position, sitting on a decent stack, and the looseness of the table, if I hit I can really get paid without giving the strength of my hand away pre-flop. The player mentioned above is now sitting on around $1100 and is involved in the hand, as are around 5 others.
Flop comes 5 6 Qr, and action checks to villain. Before we get into it, I want to provide a bit of background on our villain. He's very active, frequently continuing with hands where he's clearly beat, only to have sucked out continually on the river... and get okay value. A few examples are calling a turn $75 bet on a 7 A x x board with K7, betting $150 on the river when he hits his K and getting paid. He'll call $75 on a turn bet with $60 behind when he hits his flush. You know the type. He's a middle-aged Asian dude who likes to gamble gabol! He obviously will not lay down a draw... like EVER. Finally, I'm seething from this guy - he's the most rude, inconsiderate and questionable rule breaker I've seen in a LONG time. He'll talk about the hand whether he's involved or not - for example, he bet into a small flopped set and got raised, and starts talking about hands that he puts the raiser on while other players are still involved. He'll regularly fold out of turn. He'll act inappropriately like laughing at other players, berating them, slamming his hand down when he folded a flop that he would have hit. This guy's a regular, and has clearly been warned for his behavior before, but the dealers nor the floor have taken any action against him. In other words, he couldn't give two craps about the hand or the game if he's not involved. In one word, he was an asshole - I almost felt sorry for him because I thought he may be on the spectrum (that's how poorly behaved he was).
Anywho, back to my flopped bottom set. His pattern du jour is to bet smallish (~$15 into $60) with probing bets on hands that he has some equity, but continually will bet 2 or 3 streets as a bluff when other players just call his bets. Contrary to prior action, this time he bet $47, a large bet for him to be bluffing or drawing. Another player calls his largish bet and action folds to me. Around $75 + $47 + $47 in the pot and I'm sitting on $385. I read his hand as clearly - NOT A BLUFF. I don't think I want the mid position player just calling - and I'm not sure where I'm at with our villain; he's betting so often that he's very difficult to read. In fact, with our villain, I've opted to take a straight forward play-my-cards-face-up approach with him, because he's paying off so often and/or bluffing so often that I get more value because he so infrequently likes to fold. Therefore, I decide I will raise large - and spike $175 into the $~170 pot. He thinks for a few seconds and calls. Our monkey-in-the-middle player folds. Turn is a 3 completing the rainbow. He checks to be again - actually I bet out of turn but realize that I incorrectly did so - and he check / calls my shove of $210 after some deliberation. I don't remember the river, but he shows down KQo and I scoop a nice and much needed double up to end my night to the decent positive. After a whipsaw night, I'm pleased with the results.

WARNING: Some whining & bad beats
I had the rare occasion to play back-to-back days at the 'Shoe last night! Woot woot! You ever have one of those sessions where you do everything perfect, but still lose for the night? Yeah... I'm sure we can all agree that we've had nights like that - this was one of those nights. I'm still sick, though I'm getting incrementally better - my head is still cloudy and my ears are still clogged, but when does that stop me from playing a little live poker??? My family went to dinner at a friend's house in Baltimore and my lovely wife agreed to take two cars so we could part ways afterwards. Happy wife, happy life!
This is now my 7th or 8th session at the Horseshoe, and I can firmly say I like playing here. I like the Mississippi straddle - regardless whether I take advantage or not. I like the 1/3 instead of 1/2. I like the convenience. Finally, the players are much easier. I've become familiar with the floor people, and they with me, which is a nicety that I don't believe I was afforded at Live - perhaps too many tables, but I knew some of the dealers and that was where it ended.
As evidenced, there was a problem with a dealer last night - he burned and turned a card prior to action closure and didn't call floor. As a result of his hesitation, a player folded his cards because he believed the turn card to be the actual turn. I was not in the hand, but got involved (probably shouldn't have, but dealers need to learn this) - I told him to call floor. The floor ruled the correct procedure - declared the folder's hand dead - took the turned card out of the deck, burned and turned the would-be river card as the turn card, played out the street and finally shuffled the dead turn into the deck to re-deal the new river. It was a learning moment for the dealer, but the floor was immediately on it, ruling properly.
Anyway, the night started with a fairly loose passive table, where I rivered 2 pair to a gut shot straight and paid him off - Rebuy! Note: This was the first time in all my sessions at the 'Shoe where I've ever had to fish additional money out of my pocket after my first buy in. I consider myself fortunate that I've run that long and that well where this situation has never occurred, but it did occur for the first time last night, and I took note! The villain on the particular hand was a drunk who was becoming more cocksure with every sip. The hand ended quite miserably with him slow rolling me when I made the call on the river. Whatever - there was a lot of slow rolling and literally slow playing last night.
Anyway, I'm in for a buy in and sitting on around $230 when I'm able to extract revenge against the same player with my AKo all in vs. his A7dd. The board ran blanks and I double up to get to near starting.
A few hands later, I limp KJo (thought was that drunk was sobering, but started back up again and was becoming more loose / raising more often and I don't want to facing a 3bet with KJ so I'd rather limp / call and somewhat contain the pot prior to the flop) from EP and aggro drunk from before raises his BB to $18. Calls around and the flop comes KcTc7d. He bets $30 and it folds 3 spots to me who calls. My thought is that he's been barreling with blanks and I don't want to discourage him to continue to do so. I'm not sure, but I may have even hesitated a few moments prior to calling, acting "unsure" what to do next.
Turn is a 2s and he leads for $35 - I again hesitate / call. River is another non-club blank and he bets out $50. I just call, feeling that a raise at this point is worthless and he shows 83o for complete air - as I had expected. I think I played this hand perfectly, FWIW. Any raise / hint of aggression and he likely folds. Showing the unsure / cautious approach allows him to continue to bluff.
At this point, I'm up to $700 (up $100 off my original 2 buy ins) late into the night / early morning. I'm feeling pretty confident that my winning session streak at the 'Shoe will continue in tact. Note: since I started playing at the 'Shoe, I have yet to experience a losing session. Alas, all was not well with the poker Gods last night... I must've pissed someone with influence off, because within an hour, the ugly bitch named variance reared her ugly head:
Hand 1: KJo again, mid position against a MP $7 raise, different drunk on the SB calls along with 2 other players. This particular drunk is a regular, LOVES to gamboool and is an overall terrible player. In the time he was at my table, I saw him make numerous errors, relying on hands like a backdoored straight (J2) calling a flop with just the backdoor (no overcard, no nothing) to make his money. He was getting lucky and he knew it... Anyway, we see a flop of Kd Qd 7 and the drunk leads for $20 into the $35 pot. It's called by the original raiser (competent player, and would raise with protective hands) so I pop it to $60. Drunk calls and original raiser folds.
$175 in the pot and the turn is a 6o. Drunk pushes all his chips in fro about $135. I obviously snap call and wait for him to flip. He waits - and we see a 5 river. He flips over Q5o for the rivered 2 pair and I'm licking my wounds. From +100 to -100 in the blink of an eye. I throw up a little in my mouth.
Hand 2: Probably 10 minutes later, I look down to see 2 red Aces. Button [drunk] straddled to $6 and new player in the BB calls along with the competent player. I raise to $30 and drunk folds. New player just calls (he has $170 behind) and competent player folds. Flop comes Qc 4c 4d. I think I make the mistake of leading here with Aces far too much - what can my opponent possibly have with this flop? I am so way far ahead of him on the flop that betting will only cause him to fold, killing my action, so I check through.
$~70 in the pot and the turn is a Kd. This raises the new player's eyebrows and he leads for $25. I raise to $75 and he just calls after thinking for a little while. He's got $100 behind. Thinking back to the flop delayed cbet, I'm happy I didn't bet the flop - and I'm hoping that he has KQ. I'm actually not believing KQ since I think we'd get it in on the turn here if he had top two, but KJ, KT, etc. are possible. Again, this is a new player who hadn't really given me much information in prior hands.
River is a 3d, which, in all honesty, I didn't even look at. To me, it didn't matter what the river was - if he ships, I call, if he checks, I shove. So, he ships and I call my AdAh, only to be shown 2d5d for the backdoor low flush. Facepalm....

This particular drunk is a regular, LOVES to gamboool and is an overall terrible player. In the time he was at my table, I saw him make numerous errors, relying on hands like a backdoored straight (J2) calling a flop with just the backdoor (no overcard, no nothing) to make his money. He was getting lucky and he knew it... Anyway, we see a flop of Kd Qd 7 and the drunk leads for $20 into the $35 pot. It's called by the original raiser (competent player, and would raise with protective hands) so I pop it to $60. Drunk calls and original raiser folds.
$175 in the pot and the turn is a 6o. Drunk pushes all his chips in fro about $135. I obviously snap call and wait for him to flip. He waits - and we see a 5 river. He flips over Q5o for the rivered 2 pair and I'm licking my wounds. From +100 to -100 in the blink of an eye. I throw up a little in my mouth.
Hand 2: Probably 10 minutes later, I look down to see 2 red Aces. Button [drunk] straddled to $6 and new player in the BB calls along with the competent player. I raise to $30 and drunk folds. New player just calls (he has $170 behind) and competent player folds. Flop comes Qc 4c 4d. I think I make the mistake of leading here with Aces far too much - what can my opponent possibly have with this flop? I am so way far ahead of him on the flop that betting will only cause him to fold, killing my action, so I check through.
$~70 in the pot and the turn is a Kd. This raises the new player's eyebrows and he leads for $25. I raise to $75 and he just calls after thinking for a little while. He's got $100 behind. Thinking back to the flop delayed cbet, I'm happy I didn't bet the flop - and I'm hoping that he has KQ. I'm actually not believing KQ since I think we'd get it in on the turn here if he had top two, but KJ, KT, etc. are possible. Again, this is a new player who hadn't really given me much information in prior hands.
River is a 3d, which, in all honesty, I didn't even look at. To me, it didn't matter what the river was - if he ships, I call, if he checks, I shove. So, he ships and I call my AdAh, only to be shown 2d5d for the backdoor low flush. Facepalm....
So, there's the story of how my first losing session at the 'Shoe went down. Spectacular, I know...

FINALLY!!!! - Full Tilt Claims Administration Notice
For those living under a rock, back on April 15, 2011, the United States government seized Full Tilt poker's assets. As a result, the player funds were trapped and have been frozen ever since. 2 and a half years later, the Full Tilt player base is finally in line to receive its rightful share of their accounts back. It should be noted that the owners of Full Tilt have long been paid out for the sale of the site and / or acquitted of all charges. It should be noted that although there was major supposed accounting issues with the online site, the main shareholders of the site continued to live their lives unscathed - continuing to live in nice, expensive houses, with nice, expensive cars, sticking it in the eye of the account holders by continuing to play high stakes poker, golfing, and otherwise living a carefree life filled with revelry and debauchery. WTF?
Nevertheless, I am happy that it looks like I will receive my portion of the player funds, a modest sum. I suppose I consider this "found money," since I had kinda written off the $~2k years ago as a cost of doing business in the post-UIGEA poker world. I guess I'm going to take this money and do what I do with all my money - hookers & booze! Okay. Maybe not - who am I kidding? It's probably going into the bank never to be heard from again until retirement. Boo! I guess I wasn't really missing it in the first place.

What I've been up to lately - Bodog, MBA's (Legality of online poker) and life
Long time, no post! This blog used to be primarily about hand histories, though with US poker going dark, I've been playing less frequently, and far less volume. It used to be where I'd get into 1-2 sticky situations per night, but now, actions seem far more clear, and with the reduced volume, I'm able to focus on each individual decision. Poker seems to be a continual treadmill; up & down, up & down... Move up when the roll gets sizable to support the next buy-in level, and then cash out at the end of the month.
Bodog
I currently 4-table on Bodog, keeping my bankroll to a minimum (8-12 buy-ins @ 25NL), which is a $$$ amount I am comfortable with losing, should the DOJ decide to seize Bodog's assets. In reality, it is not a truly cost effective use of my time. I should be playing 50 or 100NL, but I simply don't want to keep an amount online that would be sufficient for those stakes. Alas, I have to settle for the 25NL donks, which can be both tremendously profitable, and terribly frustrating. Overall, though, it's profitable.
MBA
I have completed my first two classes of my MBA program: Financial Accounting & Business Communications. Accounting was ridiculously difficult; just like engineering, there are a set of rules for proper accounting standards. However, the rules seem counter-intuitive to natural math. For example, the notion of credits and debits to T-accounts (basically a means of tracking transactions between accounts) are different for assets and liabilities. There is no notion of +/-; a liability is net positive, just the same as an asset, though a credit to an asset account means the opposite of a credit to a debit account. Very confusing, and seemingly anti-engineering. Whatever.
As difficult as accounting was (we went through, chapter-to-chapter, 700 pages, from the aforementioned T-accounts to derivatives and bonds (i.e. present value of future cash flow, etc.) in about 8 weeks), Business Communications was the inverse. It was ridiculously soft; 3 papers: 2 3-page, and 1 10-pager, a group presentation, and an individual presentation to discuss the 10-page paper's findings. My topic of choice: Legalization of online poker. I am going to post my papers and presentation if anyone is interested.

I started my post-graduate college career with 2 A's. That's like pulling off a successful check-raise against a nit! Booyah! I was also confronted with my first return on the MBA investment: one of my classmates has essentially offered me a job. Pretty sure I'm not going to take it, but it's very cool nevertheless.
Life
I've been crazy busy with work & school, that life seems to be flying by. I've had little time to myself, and that which I've had, I've been spending with my family. It's fun watching my 3 children grow into individuals. My 8 year old is really getting into reading and becoming quite the bookworm. He's into Pokemon as well, which annoys me, but it gives him some exposure to games and strategy. My 6 year old is learning to read, and seems to take to it a bit slower than the 8 year old was at her age, but it's coming along. She is really into gymnastics and music; perhaps she'll be the artist in the family. Finally, my 4 year old is learning her letters and numbers. I think she's going to be very smart. She does not know how to shut her mouth, ever. The ongoing joke is how do we know when she's awake? She's moving her mouth.
I went to Hollywood Casino at Charles Town, WV, last Thursday. I think I'm done with that place. It is stupid, but I run absolutely terribly there. Simply unbelievably bad. I win *EVERYWHERE* else I play, but I cannot seem to win in my home casino. It's a shame, too, because CTown is only 45 minutes away. I'm just frustrated that I sit at a table full of donkeys and cannot hit a single hand - for what was 4 hours on Thursday, added to the prior 10-12 hours worth of sessions that I put in. Collectively, in those 16+ hours, I've seen KK twice and AK twice. I may have seen QQ once. To make matters even worse, I'm folding the trash hands and even decent hands, and none of those hands ever hit regardless. It's not like I'm hitting hands that I folded, I'm simply not hitting ANYTHING. It's amazing, too, because when I was out in California a few weeks ago, in the few hours I was there, I hit my hands and got paid MAJORLY. Why can't I run half-way normal at home, like I do ANYWHERE else?!?!?!? WTF?
That's all.

Better to be lucky than good?
I can't understand why I pay off 65/4's each and every time. I'm just dumbfounded that they can hit smash their hands, I guess. I dropped about 3 buy ins to this same guy over the course of the following hands and then some (where he just sucks out on me over & over & over again). This was the worst of it; there were quite a few more where he's literally showing up with any two cards:

Full Tilt Bullsh*t
WTF, Full Tilt? I think it's great that you roll out software updates with frequency. They're bettering the user experience, making the game more secure, and encouraging more players to join. Kudos! I think you're probably the most innovative online site out there. However, what happened last night?
I [finally] get the kiddies to bed, fire up HEM, TableNinjaFT, and the Full Tilt client. I wait for an update. I finally get in, and sit down to 6 tables, using their new table search feature. I get dealt into my first hand of the night - then poof! Nothing works. Kinda pissed; I probably lost my first hand of the night, losing 1BB. I figure it's my computer, so I shut down the client and restart. Nothing. The little Full Tilt splash screen alternates between "connecting..." and "connected..." Okay; maybe I need a restart of the entire computer. Same thing. Maybe my computer's networking has gone haywire. Try my upstairs computer. I don't even get an update; simply a cannot connect. Fire off an email to tech support about how much this sucks. Look for Full Tilt's online status, which says they're running normal and fine. The short of it is it took nearly 2 hours for them to update their status to "Down for scheduled maintenance" which is BS! They were down from 8:00PM until at least after I went to bed at around 12:00AM
Hey Full Tilt: How bout you credit me for the Iron Man day I missed? How bout you give me an extra day to compete my mid year bonus? Finally, how bout you credit me the BB I missed because your software / servers locked me out?
Is Full Tilt working now? If I come home tonight and sit down to play, will I be able to be dealt into a hand?

Sick bad beat... quads over quads!?!?!?!?
Omgitsjoshua spent a lot of money last night, in order to get a PokerTableRatings.com tattoo. Here is a picture of the tattoo he got:
I don't know why he wanted to pay so much for the tattoo; he doesn't have any tattoos in real life... So why pay $53.90 for an online tattoo? Really, it's meaningless, right? Who pays attention to such things?
Anyway, I say all of the above in jest: Josh flopped the nuts with QUADS! And how do you get your money in the middle when you're behind with QUADS?!?!?!? When the villain turns QUADS himself!

A literal bad beat

Simply redic!

Vindication is... despite all of the frustration, showing a [marginal] profit for the night, despite getting thrown the best that variance can throw your way
