I feel like "is the villain ever doing this without *AT LEAST* a straight? I think my hand is well concealed, but this guy could be on literally ATC which includes funky XcYc hands. He could also have a 4, but I doubt he's shoving over my river raise with just a straight.

Final Pot: $33.50
SB wins $31.85
(Rake: $1.65)

  1. I think I would be insta calling here.

Yep, he definitely could have a flush. I think a 4 is highly unlikely.

  2. Fold. Even the worse player ever can see there is a str8 there but the worse player ever is never bluffing there. He also would seldom bet this river without a hand. I would just call the river and thank him for making it cheap.

  3. @WillWonka...can you explain your thought process for an insta-call?

  4. @Anonymous - I think this is a consistent problem for me in the past few hand histories: I raise the river where only better hands can make a call / raise against me.

Here's my thought process (and probably wishful thinking on my part): It is "somewhat" unlikely for me to show up with a 4 in this spot - given that I raised PF from MP. SB could easily be on a 2 pair / set hand which he bets "for value" on the river, given that I checked through the turn. Given a raise of ~2.5x, I thought it would illicit a snap call on SB's part. I honestly was not thinking he was drawing to the flush... show's how much I know!

  5. You are gonna get shown a flush like 95% of the time, even vs a fish, especially given that he donked river once the flush hits

In fact I don't even raise river since we have such an obvious straight and he probs won't pay off with worse. If we somehow had 74 I probably raise river and fold to a shove.

  6. I agree with your comment "Here is my problem I raise where I am only going to get shoved/called with better hands". Why in gods name do you want to raise that river card? I guess you can beat a bluff but you pussied out on calling the bluff. Best best best case he has a set and is overplaying it. I like the comment that you call the 4.50 and say "tyvm for being a retard".

Also why no second barrel on the turn? His call is weakish right? I mean it could mean a lot of things. I know you do not have a strong hand but maybe he folds the flush draw on the turn? I dunno. Really just curious in this question.
