Before I realized I had a straight flush, I was pissed to see running hearts! I couldn't believe a flopped straight vs. a donk's overplaying of an overpair was being rewarded, til I realized I have the nuts.
ReplyDeleteDo you always raise when you enter a hand? I see here you raised with 4-5 off.
ReplyDeleteMy philosophy is to punish the limpers, particularly in position. If I'm sitting at a full ring table for awhile, I want them to be constantly guessing about my range. In addition, most of the pots, when pre-flop raised, go to the original raiser / aggressor.
ReplyDeleteThe great majority of the time, I'm opening a pot when it is limped or folded to me. It is *VERY* rare that I am overlimping; moreso I am overcalling when facing a raise.
If I'm just raising broadway+ from late position, that pretty well isolates my range to exactly that... When I'm raising wide, and with position, it's a lot harder for my opponent to play back unless they have the goods.
My VPIP / PFR is typically 24 / 18 (with the gap of 6% being completion of the SB and calling a raise).
I so much rather raise than call.
@ Memphis MOJO: Going out on a limb here and stating 54 is a standard open from the BTN. I open the majority of connectors and one gappers from there.
ReplyDeletenh, sir! Earlier in the year I had a similar hand when the board went 4 flush and my straight was "crushed"... Until I saw I actually had the straight flush, FTW! Almost convinced myself I was folding until I started counting on my fingers. ;)
