What would you do? #84 - Facing Deep-stacked shove with second-nut straight

Rush poker:

Full Tilt Poker $0.50/$1 No Limit Hold'em - 9 players

CO: $54.90
BTN: $425.95

Pre Flop: ($1.50) Hero is SB with Js 9d
6 folds, BTN raises to $3, Hero calls $2.50, 1 fold
I've been calling a wide range of hands while deep-stacked. Not quite the Poker Meister, J9o can flop just as well sometimes.

Flop: ($7.00) Qs Td 3s (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $5, Hero calls $5

Turn: ($17.00) Kc (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $17, Hero raises to $68, BTN raises to $417.95 all in, Hero ???
Keep in mind that we're deep stacked; I have $165 behind in this spot. Are you making the second nuts call? What is the V's range here? Does your answer change if you have a set of Queens or Tens?

  1. I'd love to say I would have folded this one, but my impulse was to call. I'm unsure if that is an overall leak or not.

The question is, what would he push like that (an overbet of the pot). He could push any set for value (although he could also call to try to pair the board on the end). He might push two pair (KQ) or a pair and a straight draw (KJ). Although those would be less likely. And he'd probably push AJ all the time.

The sets are more rare than the two pairs, and the fact that he might not push the hands you have beat swings it away from a call. In my mind though, you are still getting at least 3:2 on a call, so it is a tough laydown.

Another thing to consider is your equity if all-in. If he has the AJ, you are dead to a three-outer chop. If he has a set, then he'll have 10 cards that can help him. That will tend to swing away from the call because even if you are ahead, he has more outs to hit.

Still, though, I'm not sure I'd ever make that fold with the stack sizes. I'm curious to hear what other people think.
