What would you do? #75 - Limped pot facing river shove with top pair

Rush table archives:

Full Tilt Poker $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em - 9 players
The Official DeucesCracked.com Hand History Converter

Hero (MP2): $126.80
CO: $3.25
BTN: $84.60
SB: $58.10
BB: $24.00
UTG: $37.70
UTG+1: $147.60
UTG+2: $21.25
MP1: $31.35

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is MP2 with Jc Ts
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $0.50, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.50, 3 folds, BB checks

Flop: ($1.75) Js 7d 9d (3 players)
BB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $1.50, BB calls $1.50, UTG+1 folds
Flush draw + inside straight draw; pretty decent flop.

Turn: ($4.75) 4d (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $2.50, BB calls $2.50
I think I should have put on the brakes here and checked through. However, I don't want a 4 flush board getting to the river and BB backdooring me.

River: ($9.75) 3s (2 players)
BB bets $19.50 all in, Hero requests TIME, Hero ???

Hero folds
Alrighty then... What do you make of this play? I almost called because it seems so fishy, but then I started thinking about the way the hand went down: limped pot, $5 of vested money, etc. I don't think this call is ever profitable - if I folded the winning hand, so be it, but I'm imagining that V either turned the flush, or rivered 2 pair (J3). What do you think?

Final Pot: $9.75
BB wins $9.30
(Rake: $0.45)

  1. I know this is a cop-out answer, but it's a play you would get right a high percentage of the time if playing live, but not so easy playing online (where you can't watch them during the hand). I guess you have to fold.

  2. First, I'm not limping JTo from MP. Raise or fold I say.

As for the hand, no reason to call here.

  3. Only reason I was in was UTG+1 called. Otherwise, it is raise or fold.
