Hero calls $74.30 all in
I have to imagine he's raising most / all PPs, since he does have 450+ hands against me, a known stealer. Therefore, the only hand I can truly put him on is JT or air. Also, perhaps Tx hands - namely AT, KT, QT. What would you do here?
I made the call based on the following: I haven't represented a HUGE hand here (I didn't come over the top on the turn, I'm betting ~half pot throughout the hand, etc.). What kind of hand does he think will call a river shove...?... which is why I made the call. Believe me, it was close.
Final Pot: $231.60
Hero shows 8c 9s (a straight, Jack high)
BTN shows Ad Qd (a pair of Tens)
Hero wins $228.60
(Rake: $3.00)
As played, I'd lean toward call. Your call appears pretty weak on the turn and he could be betting a solid trips or a busted flush draw. If you were going to fold, you probably should have folded to the turn bet (his small raise signals that he isn't afraid of the flush draw, or he has the flush draw).
ReplyDeleteNasty situation, though. An alternate line might be raising the turn, but your stack is pretty short to do that too because you pretty much can't fold once you raise.
After looking: yeah, I was nervous about recommending the call, but I'm glad I didn't say fold!
That's a tough call. I'd be too worried about pocket 6s or 7s and a boat.
ReplyDeleteLucky to catch that straight - but that's when the poker gods get you with stuff like a full boat.
Worked out though.
