What would you do? #171 - Facing commitment bet on the turn

Another Bodogger...  Just weird, unexpected plays:

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 9 players
The Official DeucesCracked.com Hand History Converter

MP2: $8.10
CO: $27.25
BTN: $39.93
SB: $17.46 - I don't have my stats at the time of this hand on this guy from the time of the hand, but FWIW, he's a 43/3 /0% steal / 0% 3bet / 1.1 AF @76 hands - so typical for Bodog players...

Hero (BB): $29.87
UTG: $24.75
UTG+1: $18.44
UTG+2: $26.40
MP1: $25.00 - Same story with this guy; I wish I had taken a screenshot at the time, I think at the time I had around 12 hands on him...  now I have 135 hands on him and he's a 31/14 / 56% steal / 2.6% 3bet / 4.0 AF

MP1 posts a big blind ($0.25)

Pre Flop: ($0.60) Hero is BB with As Qs
3 folds, MP1 raises to $1.00, MP2 calls $1, 2 folds, SB calls $0.90, Hero calls $0.75

Flop: ($4.00) Qc 5c 8s (4 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, MP1 bets $3.00, MP2 folds, SB calls $3, Hero calls $3

Turn: ($13.00) 9h (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, MP1 bets $14.00, SB calls $13.46 all in, Hero ???

Hero folds
Either I'm stuck in the level 2+ mindset or I'm out of it altogether.  I don't think I can stack off TPTK against 2 opponents; am I totally off base here?  Anyone calling and stacking off the river?

River: ($39.92) 3c (2 players - 1 is all in)

Final Pot: $39.92
SB shows Ts Th
MP1 shows Qd Kd
MP1 wins $37.97
(Rake: $1.95)

  1. I would have folded also with JT getting there. Someone always has JT, even if they're chasing a gutshot.

Question: any thought of playing the flop faster? (leadout or checkraise)? I tend to get wishy-washy in multi-way pots myself. I'm not sure if anything changes on this hand, but I'm looking for ways to improve my play when not heads up.

  2. Fun playing with you at last night's "Bammer" tourney. However, I would much prefer a different seating arrangement. Having Josie to my right and you with position on my left made for some interesting play.

Talk about a rose between two thorns. : o )

  3. As played I think turn is a fold.

My default here would be to squeeze preflop and as played, to c/r this flop and get it in. On a wet flop like this vs 2 fish I would play it much faster. There are very few hands that have us beat on the flop but lots that have decent equity vs our hand, namely draws.

  4. I have not yet checked results but I think this is simply a classic read situation. Against thinking decent players this is a pretty easy fold. Against loose fishy players this is an easy stack off. Absent a read multi-way I am mostly folding.

  5. i say "oh this is so gross" to myself as i hit the call. i think you should usually be stacking off at the micros with tptk on that board unless you're up against a known nit pushing the action.

  6. I intend to check / raise the turn instead of the flop, but given his bet sizing and SB's call, I froze. If SB folds, I think this is an easier push.

The reason I don't squeeze PF is because I'm not sure what I'm working with as far as my opponent is concerned; I had all of 12 hands on him... most likely the contributing factor to my fold. It is truly comical the hands I've seen go to show down in all in situations. Things like Q T 3 8 5 board getting an all in shove on the river with an AK vs. 44 tickles me...
