I am 100% sure I'm good here. I've played this hand deceptively and my villain has no idea where he is in the hand.
River: ($30.25) 5s (2 players)
UTG+1 bets $18.15, Hero calls $18.15
Since he has no idea where he is in the hand, he can't lead for so much on the river, can he? I think I slow-played myself into a corner. However, I can't raise at this point, right? My hand is basically a bluff catcher? I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong not to raise for value here?
Final Pot: $66.55
UTG+1 shows Td Qd (a pair of Sixes)
Hero shows Jc As (two pair, Aces and Jacks)
Hero wins $63.55
(Rake: $3.00)

I think the river is a tough raise, because you don't have any information about his hand. Your hand is pretty strong, but you never narrowed his range.
ReplyDeleteI think the correct play is to raise the turn. It will charge draws and get value from a good A. You will get a call from any 6, but that is still a small part of his range. You can then decide if you want to bet for thinner value on the river, since he shouldn't be calling with worse than AK or AQ. Also, if he bets you can just call, which should still be profitable.
I dont think its a very strong lead at all, and really is just a standard call with the best hand. He isnt calling a raise with worse...Why no bet on the turn? He is checking for pot control or checking to give up...now he bluffed.
ReplyDeleteturn is a clear raise. river is closer but i would still raise because it looks really bluffy.
ReplyDeletethe only reason to just call the turn is if you have a read that the guy won't stop bluffing, because most people won't fire two barrels on a board like this.
