I think this is a "scared money" fold. I can't put him on a hand that beats me, other than he shoves for 175BBs on the river... With a 17% 3bet, I have to imagine that he's 3betting all pairs, right? His play is very confusing, too. Flop raise, turn check, river shove? 8 6? Set rivered boat? I don't get it. Anyone?
Hero folds

Final Pot: $41.75
BTN wins $39.70

  1. It is interesting you ask this as I almost folded the exact same type of hand last night. Guy insta-jammed the river when the board paired trying to represent the trips on the river. I called in that situation after thinking it through. He had 64o draw to a gutter and tried to bluff the river. I gotta think this is one of those hands where your equally likely to see a good hand as a bluff. I might fold here since you do not have a huge amount invested and it is a big call.

  2. Fold and if he bluffed you then good for him. He's either bluffing or you're crushed, weighted towards you being crushed.

You wanted to call and that shows that it is a decent play if he has a huge hand, bc you might call enough for + EV. Anyway, if he did bluff you, don't feel so bad bc he'll probably lose it all on online roulette. (Just tell yourself that so you don't tilt and/or start second guessing your future actions. ;)

  3. That is a very weird spot. Could he be checking back turn with a set to induce a bet from you on the river? I don't think he would run a desperate bluff with such deep stacks... I muck it too, though.

  4. When I'm confused, I usually just give it up and wait for the next time.

  5. checking back the turn with a set or 86 is just a terrible play but it's conceivable that's what he did, I dunno.

or i guess he could have just been bluffing on the flop with a random nine, that's probably his most likely and I'd angrily fold, although him being 38/34 at full ring really makes me want to call, I mean that's batshit insane even over a small sample.
