Granted, I clearly have a bluff catcher, I think it becomes far less scary of a board when the Ace double pairs the board. If he has a 4, so be it (which is what I'm most afraid of by the river; a 71/5 can show up with a lot of crazy hands), but I think it's a lot less likely he shows up with an Ace when the board pairs. In addition, I feel like a player such as this is shoving the river, figuring for at worst a split. I don't see him "value betting" such a "small" amount. Perhaps I'm giving him too little credit, because this would be a reasonable bet from a thinking player, though I don't suspect he is one of those.

  1. Since he is more a LAP than a LAG I raise more pre. I might make it like $6-7. I think you have to go in call down mode here. These idiots like to open shove an A on the flop a lot. FWIW the key spot for me is turn. Once I call turn I'm not folding river.

  2. This is one of the clueless players that has no idea why he's putting money into the pot.

Minbet on flop means "do you have an ace?".

When nobody raises, his thought is "nobody has an ace, my seven is clearly good!".

If you asked this guy if his turn and river bets were bluff or value bets, he would have no idea.
